The bulb stays visible through the glass on all four sides, so the fitting reads as an object on the pier as much as a source of light.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBecause the light source is on show, a clear filament bulb suits the design best and lets the glow spread evenly through the glass instead of sitting behind a shade. The E27 screw fitting takes one bulb of up to 60 W and is changed by the end user, so light colour and brightness can be set to match the rest of the garden. At 20 cm square and 29 cm tall it holds its own on a wide pier without crowding a narrow one. Bulbs are not included. Fitting by a qualified electrician is recommended.
