The Anle Glass Pillar Light from Lockhone is a clear glass cube held in a dark grey aluminium frame, made to sit on top of a gate pier, a low wall or a pedestal. At 24.5 cm tall and 20 cm square it has the presence to mark an entrance without the bulk of a full lamp post, and the glazed sides release light on all four faces.

Because the four panels are clear rather than frosted, the bulb itself becomes part of the look. A filament style lamp reads particularly well here, sending a soft glow through the glass and casting the shadow lines of the frame across the surface below. The fitting takes one bulb up to 15 W, supplied to suit the destination: E27 (ES) on UK orders, E26 on US orders, bulb not included.

The frame is aluminium and the rating is IP54, which covers rain and splashing water from any direction in a sheltered outdoor position such as a gate post, a porch edge or a terrace wall. At 2.3 kg the light feels solid without being awkward for one person to fit. A matching pair on piers either side of a drive gives a symmetrical, well finished entrance.
