Checked Throw Blanket

A check is the most forgiving pattern a throw can carry. It sits happily on a plain sofa, it does not fight a patterned rug, and it hides the creases that a flat colour throw always shows. This one uses a traditional two-tone grid on a soft woven ground, and the scale of the check is judged large enough to read from across the room without turning into a picnic blanket.

Three sizes cover most jobs. Seventy by a hundred centimetres is a lap throw for a reading chair. A hundred by a hundred and fifty is the useful everyday size, long enough to cover a person properly on a two-seater. A hundred and thirty by a hundred and fifty drapes across the end of a double bed or over the back of a larger sofa without looking mean.

Eight colourways are offered, from black, grey and khaki through to caramel, orange, yellow, green and a soft sea orchid. The fabric is light enough to fold small and take outside for an evening in the garden. It is machine washable and quick to dry, and unlike a heavier wool throw it does not need pressing or airing for days to look right again.
