Compact Steel Umbrella Stand

A slim steel umbrella stand designed for the narrow stretch of hallway beside a front door, where the usual wide ceramic pot simply will not fit. The frame is open rather than solid, so wet umbrellas dry properly instead of sitting in a closed cylinder, and the base catches the drips before they reach a floor or a rug.

The steel is powder coated in either a clean white or a matt black, both finishes chosen to sit against a painted wall without drawing the eye. There is nothing decorative about it, and that is the point: an umbrella stand is a piece of equipment, and this one is built to disappear beside a coat rack rather than to be looked at on its own.

It takes several full-size umbrellas and a couple of folding ones comfortably, and works equally well in a porch, in a boot room, or in the corner of a utility beside the back door where wet things tend to accumulate. Tip the base out and dry it after wet weather to stop water sitting in it. Wipe the frame with a barely damp cloth and dry it, rather than leaving moisture on the powder coating.
