Delvi Pearl Glass Tiered Chandelier

The Delvi layers pressed glass and pearl beading into a soft, decorative centrepiece. Three tiers of oval glass plaques sit on a gold tone metal frame, each panel moulded with a lace pattern border and a leaf motif picked out in green, while strands of ivory pearl beads swag between the arms. It is a frankly ornamental fitting, and it reads as one whether the light is switched on or off.

Lit, the pressed pattern does the work. Light passes through the textured glass and scatters across the ceiling and walls in a fine, dappled pattern rather than a single hard pool. Small screw fitting lamps sit behind the panels and stay hidden from most viewing angles, so what is visible is the glass rather than the source. The frame is metal with glass panels and is rated IP20 for indoor use.

The scale suits rooms of roughly five to ten square metres, which covers most dining rooms, bedrooms and small living rooms. The chain is adjustable, so the drop can be set to suit ceiling height and to clear a table beneath it. Some assembly is needed and the chandelier is supplied hardwired for a qualified electrician to fit. Pressed glass and beading collect dust, so a soft dry brush now and then is worth the trouble.
