Edvo Retro Globe Pendant Light

The Edvo is a clear glass globe held in a banded metal frame with a pierced fretwork ring around its middle, in an aged brass and copper finish. It is a straight period piece, and it does the job a period piece should do in a hallway or over a stairwell.

The glass is clear rather than frosted, so the bulbs are part of the look and the frame casts a pattern of shadows across the ceiling once it is lit. The metalwork is aged rather than bright, which keeps it from looking like a reproduction, and it sits well with dark paint, panelling, tiled floors and older joinery. At 35 cm across and 42 cm high it is a substantial fitting.

It suits a hallway, stairwell, dining room, bar or kitchen island with the height to carry it; in a lower room it will feel crowded. Bulbs are not included, so the style and brightness can be chosen to suit, and decorative filament lamps read well through clear glass. The fitting is hardwired and rated IP20 for indoor use, so installation is best carried out by a qualified electrician, who can also confirm the ceiling fixing suits the weight. Wipe the glass with a dry cloth.
