Greek Goddess Resin Statue 36cm

Classical figures have been used as interior sculpture for four hundred years, and the reason is simply that the drapery does something no modern form does: it gives a plain object a sense of movement. This figure stands 36cm tall with the fabric falling in deep folds down the body, and at that height it is substantial enough to anchor a console table, a mantelpiece or a shelf on its own.

Four finishes are offered, and they change the character of the piece completely. White reads as the traditional plaster cast and disappears into a pale room. Black turns it graphic and modern, closer to a silhouette than a statue. Blue and yellow push it further still, towards pop art, and work best against a plain wall where the colour can do the talking. All four are matt rather than glossy.

The piece is cast in resin, which takes the fine detail of the folds and the modelling of the hands and face far better than moulded stone composites do, and it weighs around 730g so it stands securely without needing to be fixed. It measures 11 x 9.8 x 36cm. Dust it with a soft dry brush or cloth rather than a damp one, and avoid solvents. Place it on a stable level surface and keep it out of reach of small children.
