Kytto Matt Black Sputnik Chandelier

The Kytto sends twenty slim black arms out from a single matt black sphere, each arm finishing in a plain cylindrical holder that grips an exposed filament bulb. At 96cm across it fills the space above a long table the way a piece of sculpture would, and because the arms sit at different angles the outline shifts as a person walks around it. The all-metal build keeps the look plainly industrial, with no shades, no glass and no visible cabling to soften the frame.

LED filament bulbs are supplied with the fixture, so it lights straight out of the box on an E14 small screw fitting. The bulbs stand proud of the holders and throw a warm, low-glare light that washes across a ceiling rather than pooling on a table, which suits a room where atmosphere matters more than task lighting. The fitting runs on 110V to 240V and carries an IP20 rating, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms rather than anywhere exposed to damp.

Kytto works over a long dining table, a bar counter or an open stairwell, and it needs room around it: at nearly a metre across, the arms want clear air on every side rather than a tight alcove. Hang it high enough that the exposed bulbs sit above eye level when people are standing. Because the bulbs are part of the look, keep a spare of the same type. Dust the arms and bulbs occasionally with a dry cloth.
