LuxeLine Metal Hangers, Set of Five

A slimline metal hanger is the answer to a rail that has run out of room. Each of these is barely five millimetres thick, so five garments occupy roughly the space three wooden hangers would, and the profile is drawn in a single clean line — no joins, no plastic caps, nothing to catch on knitwear.

They are formed from solid steel wire with a thick electroplated finish in polished silver or warm gold. Small grooves are pressed into the top of each shoulder, and they do the quiet work: a silk camisole or a wide-necked jumper stays put instead of sliding to the floor. The lower bar is smooth and continuous for trousers, and the hook swivels so a garment can be turned to face out without lifting it off the rail.

Sold in fives, which is a sensible unit for converting a wardrobe gradually or for keeping a matched set for one type of garment. The electroplating is hard-wearing but not indestructible: wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth, and avoid abrasive pads or chemical cleaners. Used throughout a wardrobe rather than mixed with bulkier hangers, they typically free up a third of the rail, which is often the difference between crowded and usable.
