Seated Thinker Sculpture

A seated figure with its chin on a fist is a shape that carries some weight in a room. This one sits on a rough rocky base that contrasts against the smooth modelling of the body, and the whole piece stands about twenty-six centimetres tall by sixteen deep. It is well suited to a desk, a study shelf or the corner of a console where it can be looked at properly rather than glanced past.

Three finishes change the character considerably. Sandstone is the quietest, reading as carved stone and sitting easily in a room full of natural materials. Silver gives it a cooler, more contemporary edge. Gold is the boldest of the three and works best against dark walls or deep-toned shelving, where it has something to push against rather than disappearing into pale paint.

The casting is a dense resin that holds fine detail through the hands and the fold of the back, and the base is broad enough that the figure stands securely without any fixing. Dust with a soft brush rather than a damp cloth, particularly on the sandstone finish where moisture can leave a visible mark, and keep the piece out of sustained direct sunlight.
