Sefta Amber Glass Wall Light

The Sefta takes a single piece of amber glass and folds it into a soft fan, so the top edge ripples and the sides taper down to a small brass coloured foot. Because each shade is formed by hand, no two pieces carry exactly the same curve or the same depth of colour. Unlit it reads as a warm amber shell on the wall; lit, it becomes the warmest thing in the room.

It measures 28 cm wide and 20 cm tall and stands 13 cm off the wall. Lit, the glass runs from a deep russet at the base to a clear honey tone near the rim, and the open top throws a wide arc of light up the wall. Two bulbs of up to 10 W each sit behind the glass, screw fitting and not included: E14 (SES) on UK orders and E12 on US orders.

That output suits a hallway, a bedside or a dark corner without flattening the room, and the fitting works with a dimmer switch so the level can be dropped right back in the evening. Sefta is hardwired to a wall point, so the position is worth marking out before the cable is run. Clean the glass with a dry cloth, and expect small variations between two shades hung as a pair.
