Tulip Glass Wall Light

A single glass shade blown into the shape of a tulip bud, held on a slim metal arm and backplate. At 12cm across and 16cm tall it is a small fitting, which is the point: it goes beside a bed, either side of a mirror or along a hallway without crowding the wall, and the shape reads as mid-century rather than fussy. The glass carries the whole look.

Five finishes are offered. Clear glass throws the most light and shows the filament of a decorative bulb; white diffuses it evenly; amber, green and smoke grey each warm or cool the output and hold their colour when the light is off. A push-button switch sits on the backplate, so it can be operated without a wall switch on the circuit, and it takes a standard screw-fit bulb up to 40W.

Mounted in a pair either side of a headboard it makes a tidy alternative to bedside lamps and frees the table. Dust the glass with a dry, lint-free cloth and let the fitting cool first. The bulb is not supplied; choose a UK screw-fit bulb rated at or below 40W. This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician.
