Valto Amber Glass Ceiling Light

The Valto is a flush mount fitting that hangs a rounded coloured-glass globe from a slim black ceiling plate. The glass has an inner well at its base, so the bulb sits partly recessed and the whole shade glows in its tint when lit. It is an art-deco touch that works as easily in a period room as in a modern one, and the colour reads well both off and on.

The shade is amber glass over a metal fixture. Because the fitting sits close to the ceiling, the globe stays well clear of head height, and there is no flex to set or shorten before installation. It takes a single E27 bulb, which is not included, so LED, incandescent or fluorescent can all be used. It runs across 110V-240V and is rated IP20 for indoor use.

It suits rooms where a long pendant would hang too low: a hallway, a small landing, a bedroom with a low ceiling, or a living room of roughly 10 to 15 square metres. The fitting hardwires in place, so a qualified electrician should install it. Clean the glass with a dry or barely damp cloth once the power is off and the bulb has had time to cool fully.
