Vellona Red Dome Petite Ceiling Light

The Vellona pairs a glossy red metal half-dome with a plain opal glass sphere, fixed flush so the whole fitting stands just 17cm from the ceiling. At 12cm across it suits the places a full pendant would crowd: a hallway, a small landing, a study or the ceiling above a bedside table. The red dome bounces a little colour back onto the plaster and reads as a deliberate piece of trim against a white ceiling.

The opal glass throws light in every direction rather than pushing it straight down, which keeps a small room evenly lit without a hard pool underneath. One G9 bulb is included and sits inside the sphere, giving warm light on a 110-240V supply. The fixture is metal with a glass shade and is rated IP20 for indoor rooms, so it belongs in dry spaces rather than anywhere exposed to weather.

A fitting this size is suggested for spaces of roughly 10 to 15 square metres, where its job is even background light rather than task lighting over a work surface. It is hardwired and assembly is required, so a qualified electrician should complete the installation. Once fitted, both the glass sphere and the painted dome wipe clean with a dry cloth with the power off, and the gloss finish shows dust more readily than a matt one.
