Woven Heat Resistant Placemats Set of 4

Fabric placemats look good for about six weeks. These are woven from a thicker coated yarn instead, which gives the same textile appearance - a visible weave, a soft matte surface, none of the plastic sheen of a wipe-clean mat - while surviving the things that actually happen at a dining table. Spilled wine, hot plates and a child with a fork are all survivable.

The weave is thick enough to insulate against a hot dish rather than just looking as though it might, and the mats lie flat from the first day rather than curling at the corners. Brown gives a warmer, more natural read on a wooden table; silver is cooler and works with grey, white and stainless kitchens. A set of four covers a standard table, and two sets sit together without any obvious break.

Cleaning takes seconds: wipe with a damp cloth, or rinse under a tap and shake dry. They do not need washing machines, ironing or storing flat, and the colour is fade resistant under normal indoor light. Do not put them under a pan taken straight from a hob or oven - heat resistant is not heatproof, and a trivet is still the right tool for that.
