Abstract Face Tufted Bath Mat

A line-drawn face, rendered in thick tufted pile, turns a purely practical mat into the one piece of art in the room. The design is deliberately loose — a few sweeping contours, a suggestion of a profile — so it sits happily against plain white tiles or a busy patterned floor without competing for attention. Choose soft blue or warm ochre yellow.

The pile is dense and short enough to stay upright underfoot, and it drinks water quickly: step out of the shower and the mat takes the drips rather than passing them to the floorboards. Underneath, a bonded non-slip layer grips tile and vinyl so the mat stays where you put it. It is machine washable at a cool temperature and keeps its shape and colour through repeated washes.

Two sizes cover most bathrooms — the smaller for beside a basin or shower tray, the larger for the length of a bath. As with any bath mat, a wet floor is a slip risk: use it on a clean, dry, level surface, check the backing still grips after washing, and take care with young children and anyone unsteady on their feet. It also works well outside the bathroom entirely, as a small rug beside a bed, in front of a basin in a cloakroom, or at the foot of a shower room bench.
