Adjustable Solar Spotlight

Uplighting a tree, a wall or a piece of garden sculpture usually means running armoured cable to it. This spotlight avoids all of that. The panel and the lamp head pivot separately, so the cell can face south for the best charge while the beam points wherever you actually want it - up the trunk of a birch, along a run of brickwork, or across a flight of steps.

Two modes let you decide how the charge is spent. High gives a brighter, tighter beam for around six hours, which suits an evening when the garden is in use. Low stretches the same charge to roughly twelve hours for gentle security lighting that stays on until morning. The switch is on the back of the head, out of sight once the light is positioned.

Fixings for both a ground stake and a wall bracket are included, so the same unit can be pushed into a border now and screwed to a fence later. The housing copes with rain, snow and temperature swings without any special treatment or seasonal packing away. Keep the panel clear of overhanging leaves through autumn and performance stays consistent from one year to the next, with no servicing beyond that occasional wipe.
