The Alcaro Alabaster Wall Light is cut from real alabaster, so the light does not sit on the surface, it travels through it. Each fluted panel carries its own veining in cream, honey and smoke, which means no two pieces light up in quite the same way. Switched off it reads as a slab of pale stone on the wall; switched on it becomes the warmest thing in the room.

Vertical ribs are cut into the face so the glow breaks into soft columns rather than one flat panel, an art deco device that adds depth to a plain wall. The LED sits behind the stone and is integrated, so there is no bulb to source or replace, and the light can be ordered in a fixed warm tone or in a dimmable version for a circuit that already has a dimmer on it. A small brass fixing holds the stone to the slim metal backplate.

Three heights are made: 30 cm and 45 cm at 10 cm wide and 5 cm deep, and a 60 cm version at 12 cm wide and 6 cm deep, so the same design works either side of a bed, along a hallway or beside a mirror. Rated IP20 and damp rated rather than waterproof, the Alcaro is for indoor rooms only. Lockhone supplies it hardwired for a standard wall switch, which is not included. Delivery takes 8-15 working days.
