Aluminium Bar Mirror Wall Light

A long, slim aluminium bar that mounts above a mirror, a picture or a headboard and washes light evenly along its whole length. At roughly 40cm wide and only a few centimetres deep, it delivers around 800 lumens from 8W, which is bright enough to actually get ready by and efficient enough to leave on without thinking about it.

Above a bathroom or dressing-table mirror, the even bar of light is what makes it useful: light comes from the side you are facing rather than overhead, so it fills in shadows under the eyes and chin instead of casting them. Over a bed or a sofa it works as a picture light, grazing the wall and giving a room a finished, hotel-like edge.

The switched versions have a small integrated switch on the fitting, which is worth having above a bed or in a bathroom where a separate wall switch is inconvenient. White, black and gold all mount flush and cleanly. Warm 3000K suits bedrooms, neutral 4000K is the best all-rounder above a mirror, and 5000K white is the brightest and most clinical.
