Amethyst Crystal LED Lamp

Light passing through natural stone does something a shade cannot imitate. This small lamp seats a piece of genuine amethyst over an LED, so the light comes through the crystal itself and picks out the internal fractures, the depth of the purple and the ragged line where the geode was broken open. Switched off it is simply a good-looking specimen; switched on it becomes a pool of coloured light.

Two versions are offered. Warm white deepens the purple towards wine and works best in a bedroom or a snug where you want the light to feel soft. Cool white keeps the stone closer to its natural violet and is the sharper, more mineral-looking of the two, better suited to a desk or a shelf of specimens. Each lamp uses natural crystal, so the shape, colour saturation and internal structure differ from piece to piece.

It is compact at around eleven by six centimetres, so it fits a nightstand, a bookshelf or a windowsill without needing space cleared for it. Power is over USB, so use any UK-approved USB mains adapter or a laptop port; an adapter is not supplied. Dust with a dry soft brush. Sold purely as a decorative lamp, with no properties of any kind claimed for the stone.
