Anchor Battery Wall Light 32cm

An anchor cut in moulded ABS with eleven small LEDs set into the face of it, so the outline glows softly rather than throwing a beam. It runs on batteries at three volts, which means no wiring, no electrician and no cable down the wall - it goes up where you want it with the fixings supplied and comes down again just as easily when a child outgrows it or the room changes.

At 25 centimetres wide and 32 tall it is big enough to hold a wall on its own above a bed or a chest of drawers, and only five deep so it does not intrude into a narrow room. Blue is the more obvious nautical reading and sits well with white panelling or a pale grey wall; red is warmer and works better in a room that already has timber or a strong colour in it. The finish is smooth and wipes clean.

The total output is fifty lumens at half a watt, which makes this a comfort light and a piece of wall decoration rather than a way of reading in bed. That is the right level for a child's room, a bunk, a landing or a downstairs hallway at night. Please note it is a lamp, not a toy: fit it out of a small child's reach, keep the battery compartment closed, and dispose of used cells at a proper recycling point.
