Ankor Seeded Glass Outdoor Wall Lantern

The Ankor is an outdoor wall lantern with a cylindrical shade hung beneath a scrolled arm. The glass is seeded with fine bubbles, so light breaks up as it passes through and settles into a soft, warm glow rather than a hard beam. Decorative struts around the outside cast their own pattern of light and shadow onto the wall behind, and the full antique lantern outline reads clearly from the end of a path.

The body is moulded plastic in a black finish and the shade is glass, a combination that holds the lantern shape while keeping the whole fitting to 1.6 kg. It stands 36.5 cm tall and 20.3 cm wide, so it sits on a wall as a proper entrance lantern rather than a small accent fitting. One E27 (ES) bulb of up to 60 W drives it, and the light dims when paired with an external dimmer.

Rated IP23, the Ankor belongs in sheltered outdoor positions: a porch, a covered entrance or a balcony where a canopy takes the worst of the rain. A matching pair either side of a front door balances the elevation and doubles the light on the step. The bulb is not included, so choose a colour temperature to suit the seeded glass, and wipe the glass down occasionally to keep the bubble pattern reading clearly.
