Axon Two-Tone Semi-Flush Ceiling Light

Slim arms radiate from a central hub in the sputnik manner, finished in matt black and picked out with brushed brass so the fitting reads as two-tone from every angle in the room. Because it mounts semi-flush rather than dropping on a long rod, it stays clear of head height, which makes it a sensible choice for halls, landings, bedrooms and any room with a standard ceiling height.

Two sizes are offered. The four lamp version measures 63cm wide and 28cm high and suits a hallway or a modest bedroom; the six lamp version opens out to 83cm wide and 33cm high for a larger sitting room, a dining space or a generous stairwell. Lampholders are E27 and bulbs are not included, leaving you free to choose the brightness and colour temperature that fits the room, whether that is something soft above a bed or crisper light over a kitchen table.

Electrically the fitting runs on AC 90-260V, is hardwired rather than plugged in, and carries UL, RoHS, CE, VDE and SAA marks. It is made for dry indoor locations only, so a bathroom zone or a covered porch is not the right home for it. Fitting it is work for a qualified electrician, and the points below on isolating the circuit, checking the ceiling and choosing the right fixing should be read before anyone reaches for a drill.
