Bahia Ivory Botanical Velvet Rug

The Bahia borrows the language of the old faded floral carpets and quiets it down for a British room. An ivory ground carries an all-over botanical repeat of rosettes, palmettes and fine trailing vines, worked in powder blue, coral, terracotta, mustard and dusty rose, with charcoal linework holding the drawing together. The palette has already been softened, so the rug reads as something that has settled into a house rather than arrived in it.

A wide multi-band border frames the field: a narrow brick-rust guard band on the outside, a broad run of angular palmette cartouches through the centre, and a fine rust line where the border meets the field. The bands turn a full medallion at each of the four corners. That border is what lets the Bahia hold a large floor without the room feeling busy, and it gives the rug a clear edge against pale oak or stone.

The pile is crystal velvet, short and dense, so the fine linework stays legible underfoot and the rug sits low enough for doors and dining chairs to clear it.
