Berno Sensor Outdoor Wall Light

The Berno Sensor Outdoor Wall Light from Lockhone wraps a soft opal drum diffuser inside an open cage of slim vertical bars. The cage is finished in anthracite and framed by a solid ring at the top and another at the base, so the fitting reads as a modern lantern rather than a plain box on the wall. Light escapes sideways between the bars and downward through the base ring, spreading across brickwork or render instead of glaring straight out.

A motion sensor sits in the lower section of the wall bracket and switches the light on as someone approaches. It covers a 120 degree detection angle with a detection range of 6 to 10 metres, which suits a front door, a side passage or a garage approach. An IP44 rating protects the fitting against splashing water from any direction, and aluminium and plastic construction keeps the whole unit at 1.44 kg, so the wall fixing stays light.

The lantern takes one GX53 twist-fit lamp, a flat disc-shaped LED that pushes and turns into place. GX53 is the same fitting on UK and US orders, and the lamp is not included, which leaves brightness and light colour open to choice. The fitting is dimmable when wired through a compatible external dimmer, not supplied. At 33.1 cm high, 17 cm wide and projecting 21.2 cm from the wall, Berno holds its own beside a door without crowding it. Installation is a job for a qualified electrician. Delivery takes 8-15 working days.
