Berno Cage Outdoor Wall Light

The Berno wraps a soft opal drum diffuser inside an open cage of slim vertical bars. The cage is finished in anthracite and framed by a solid ring at the top and another at the base, so the fitting reads as a modern lantern rather than a plain box on the wall. Light escapes sideways between the bars and downward through the base ring.

That spread washes across brickwork or render instead of glaring straight out at anyone approaching. A motion sensor sits in the lower section of the wall bracket and switches the light on as someone comes near, covering a 120 degree detection angle at a range of six to ten metres. An IP44 rating protects the fitting against splashing water from any direction, and aluminium and plastic construction keeps the whole unit to 1.44 kg.

The detection range suits a front door, a side passage or a garage approach, where light is wanted on arrival rather than all evening. The low weight means the wall fixing stays light work on brick or render. Mount it at a height where the sensor looks across the approach rather than down at the doorstep, and rinse grit off the cage after a hard winter.
