Bibbie Toilet Roll Holder

Most toilet roll holders are an afterthought bolted to a wall. Bibbie is designed to be looked at: a single slender upright rising from a weighted disc base, with a curved arm at the top that takes the roll in use and a stack below for two or three spares. It stands beside the pan without fixings, so it moves when you clean and leaves the tiles untouched.

The frame is powder-coated steel in matte black or brushed silver, both finishes chosen to sit alongside the taps and towel rails most UK bathrooms already have. The base is deliberately heavy and felted underneath, so it does not skate across the floor or scratch tiles, and the arm is open-ended: a roll lifts off and on one-handed, without threading anything through a spindle.

Because it needs no drilling, it suits rented flats, cloakrooms and anywhere the wall is not worth making holes in. Wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it; avoid abrasive creams, which will dull the powder coat. Place it on a level floor and clear of the swing of the door. The stack takes standard and double-length rolls, so a household can keep a few days' supply beside the pan without a cupboard or an open shelf full of packaging.
