Black Metal House Numbers 10cm

Clean modern numerals cut from metal and finished in matte black, 10cm high and sold one character at a time so you can build any address without paying for digits you will never use. The faces are flat and the strokes are even, which is what keeps a house number legible from the pavement; there is no serif, no shadow and no ornament to blur the shape at a distance.

Digits zero to nine are available along with the letters A, B and C for flats and annexes. Mounted on a painted door, a rendered wall, a gate post or a wheelie-bin store, a run of these reads as deliberate rather than merely functional. Spacing is up to you, and it is worth laying the characters out with masking tape before committing - a hand's width between digits usually looks right at 10cm.

Fixings are supplied. Drill to suit the substrate and use plugs rated for it; on render or brick, pilot holes and outdoor-grade plugs make the difference between a number that stays put and one that works loose over a winter. The finish is weather resistant rather than marine grade, so on an exposed coastal elevation expect to wipe the characters down occasionally. Clean with a damp cloth and avoid abrasives or solvent cleaners.
