A small retro lamp in brushed metal with a moulded shade, sized to be carried rather than installed. Cordless table lamps have become the standard answer for dining tables, balconies and the middle of a room where there is no socket, and the honest ones are the ones that admit they are for atmosphere rather than reading. This is one of those.

It is 24 centimetres tall on an 11 by 12 centimetre base, which is enough presence to hold the centre of a small table but small enough to move from a dining table to a coffee table to a bathroom shelf as the evening goes on. The brushed finish is fingerprint-tolerant, which matters on something that gets picked up, and the shade is moulded rather than fabric so it wipes clean.

A rechargeable lithium battery is built in and charges over the supplied USB cable, with a touch control on the body that switches and dims. Because it charges over USB you will need a UK mains USB adaptor if you are not using a computer - use a good quality fused one. The battery is not user-replaceable, so at end of life the whole unit should go to a WEEE collection point. Charge indoors and do not cover the lamp while charging.
