Calo Ribbed Glass Petal Ceiling Light

The Calo sets a wide, ruffled glass petal beneath a solid brass canopy. Pressed ribs run out from the centre of the shade and throw a flower-shaped pattern of light across the ceiling around the fitting, which turns a plain hallway ceiling into the most interesting surface in the room. The brass canopy is warm toned and sits quietly against white plaster and pale painted walls.

Clear ribbed glass keeps the fitting almost weightless in daylight and lets the full output of the lamp through after dark, so a 30cm shade covers a small room without a second fixture. One E27 lamp is supplied, and the colour temperature steps through three settings from the wall switch, which lets the same fitting run warm in the evening and cooler during the day.

It fits hallways, landings, small bedrooms and dining corners of about 5 to 10 square metres, and the flush profile keeps it clear of head height on a stair or a narrow landing. The fitting is hardwired with assembly required, so a qualified electrician should carry out the installation. Clear glass shows dust and finger marks, so lift the shade off occasionally and wash it separately from the brass.
