Ten metres of cable carrying three hundred warm white LEDs on short dropping strands, so the run hangs as a curtain of falling points rather than a single line. Along a fence, under the eaves or across a pergola it gives the soft vertical shimmer that a plain string cannot, and because it is solar there is no extension lead trailing back to the house.

The panel stakes into a border or bolts to a wall and drives the whole run from a single charge, switching on at dusk and off again when the cell is spent. Eight lighting modes cover everything from a steady glow to a slow fade, and the cable and connections are rated IP44, which means they shrug off rain and spray without being suited to standing water.

Give the panel the sunniest position you can and expect shorter evenings in midwinter, when there is simply less charge to gather. Fix the drops so they hang clear of doors, gates and anything that swings, and keep the run out of reach of children and pets. Take it down before the worst of the weather if you want to get several seasons from it. Coil the run loosely rather than folding it, and the fine cable will last several seasons.
