Chequerboard Storage Tray

A tray is the quiet fix for a cluttered surface. Anything that lands on it looks deliberate; anything that lands beside it looks like mess. This one carries a graphic black and white chequerboard, which gives it enough presence to work as decoration in its own right when nothing is sitting on it.

Two forms are offered. The flat tray is 26cm across and 2.5cm deep, sitting low on a worktop, console or dressing table - the right shape for keys, jewellery, glasses and the general debris of a hallway. The footed version is larger at 30cm and stands 7.2cm tall on short legs, lifting fruit or bread clear of the surface and reading more like a cake stand. Set options pair the two, which stack together as a tiered arrangement.

The material is a moulded composite rather than ceramic, which makes both versions light, robust and unlikely to chip if knocked off a counter - a real advantage in a busy kitchen or a house with children. Wipe clean with a damp cloth; avoid abrasive scourers, which will dull the printed pattern. It is intended for dry goods, fruit and objects rather than as a plate for wet food, and it is not suitable for the oven, microwave or dishwasher.
