Chopping Board with Storage Tray

The problem with prepping vegetables on a small worktop is not the chopping, it is the pile of chopped things with nowhere to go. This board solves that by carrying a slide-out tray underneath: you chop on top, sweep everything through into the tray, and carry the lot to the pan in one trip instead of juggling three bowls. The tray measures thirty-nine by nine by six and a half centimetres.

The board itself is thirty-eight by twenty-nine and a half, which is a genuine working size rather than a token one, and the surface is textured so a knife does not skate. A moulded grip along one edge makes it easy to lift when it is loaded, and the underside has non-slip contact points so the board stays where it is put on a wet counter. Both parts are food-safe plastic.

It is dishwasher safe, which is the practical advantage over a wooden board and the reason most people end up reaching for it first. Three colours are offered, red, green and blue, which is genuinely useful if you want to keep separate boards for raw meat and vegetables. Take a plastic board out of service once the cut marks become deep enough to hold residue, as they become harder to clean properly.
