Modelled as an open clam shell with a fluted lip and a deep, smooth well, this small dish does the job of a jewellery tray without looking like one. The glaze pools slightly in the ridges, so the colour is a little deeper along the fluting than across the flat of the shell. Pink and white are both offered, and both read as soft rather than sugary in daylight.
It measures 11 by 13 by 6 centimetres and weighs only 70 grams, which makes it easy to move between a bedside table, a bathroom shelf and the hall table by the door. The well is deep enough that rings and studs do not skate out when it is picked up, and wide enough for a watch, a pair of glasses or a set of keys.
The body is glazed ceramic, so it wipes clean with a damp cloth and warm water; skip the dishwasher, which will dull the glaze over repeated cycles.
