Coloured Ceramic Plant Pots

A good plant pot should flatter the plant rather than compete with it, and a plain glazed stoneware cylinder has never stopped doing that job well. These come in three sizes that cover almost everything on a windowsill: 8cm for a cutting or a small succulent, 11cm for a standard nursery plant repotted, and 14cm for something with a bit more presence.

Four glazes are offered. Beige is the quietest and lets green foliage do the work. Black is the most graphic and looks best in a group of three at different heights. Dark green sits closest to the plant itself and almost disappears, which is exactly what you want behind a trailing pothos. Dark pink is the one to choose when the pot is meant to be seen.

The 11cm size comes with a matching drip tray, which saves a windowsill from watermarks; the 8cm and 14cm are supplied without. Glazed stoneware is heavier than plastic, so pots stay put when a plant grows top-heavy, and the glaze wipes clean of soil marks easily. As with all glazed ceramics, small variations in glaze tone and surface between pots are a feature of the firing rather than a fault. Stand pots on a level surface and lift larger sizes with both hands when full.
