Coloured Glass Flush Ceiling Light 25cm

Most ceiling lights come in white, black or brushed metal, and that is the end of the conversation. This one comes in six colours, including olive green, light green, orange and pink, which makes it one of the few fittings you can use as an actual piece of colour in a room rather than something to be tolerated overhead. The glass is solid rather than translucent plastic, so the tone stays true whether it is lit or not.

The proportions are modest: twenty-five centimetres across and thirteen deep, a rounded form sitting close to the ceiling. That suits a bedroom, a hallway, a small dining area or a child's room, where it covers ten to fifteen square metres comfortably. Because the glass is coloured, some of that colour carries into the light itself, which gives the room a warmth or a coolness that a plain white diffuser cannot produce.

The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to replace, and it is not dimmable, which keeps the electronics simple and the light steady. It runs on 220 to 230 volt mains and mounts flush against the ceiling. This is a hardwired fitting rated for dry indoor locations only. Wipe the glass with a soft damp cloth when it is cool, and leave installation to a qualified electrician.
