Compact Aluminium Wall Light 8cm

A very small aluminium wall light, 8cm square and only 7cm deep, for the places a normal fitting is simply too big: the reveal of a doorway, the side of a stair well, a run along a narrow hallway at skirting height. Round and square faces are offered in silver and gold. Because the body is a single machined block with no visible fixings, a row of them looks like architecture rather than a set of lamps.

Output is 300 lumens from a 3W integrated LED, which is the correct amount for a marker light: enough to define a step or a threshold, not enough to glare when you pass it at close range. Two colour temperatures are available, warm white at 3000K and cool white at 5000K. Warm is the better choice indoors; cool reads as crisper on grey stone or a covered outdoor passage.

The rating is IP22, so it is protected against falling drips but not against jets of water. That makes it suitable for a covered porch or a sheltered passage as well as anywhere indoors, but not for an exposed elevation and not inside a shower area. The aluminium body and shade handle the heat from the LED without a separate heatsink. It is hardwired and supplied without a lamp, as the LED is integral.
