An iron wall light in the industrial manner, with a cone shade 18cm across held on a jointed arm that reaches out 20cm and folds back again. The shade points the light where it is wanted, which makes this a genuinely useful reading light beside a bed or an armchair rather than a purely decorative sconce. Two finishes are offered, a flat antique black and a warmer bronze.
Everything about the construction is plain and deliberate: a 14cm round backplate, an exposed arm joint, a shade with a rolled edge and no diffuser. The finish is applied to iron, which gives the fitting real weight, and weight is why the arm holds its position instead of drooping over time the way a light aluminium equivalent does. The look sits well in a workshop-style room, a brick-walled kitchen or a study.
The holder is E27, the standard large screw base, so lamps are easy to buy anywhere in the UK and you can choose the output and colour to suit. No lamp is supplied. Because the shade is open metal it will get hot with a filament lamp; an LED is the sensible choice and keeps the shade cool enough to adjust by hand. Overall height is 25cm. It is hardwired and needs installing on a lighting circuit.
