A wall sconce built from an iron arm and backplate carrying a single glass globe. The globe is the softening element: light leaves it in every direction rather than being thrown in one, so the fitting lights a corner of a room instead of putting a hard pool on one patch of wall. Six body colours are offered, from restrained black and white through green to yellow, orange and red.
Those brighter colours are worth taking seriously rather than treating as novelties. A red or orange sconce on a dark green or deep blue wall does something a neutral fitting cannot, and because the glass stays clear the colour lives in the metalwork while the light stays honest. The backplate measures 12cm across and 5cm high, so it covers a standard back box without needing a separate cover plate.
The fitting projects 17cm from the wall on a 20cm wide mount, and it takes a G9 lamp, which is the small capsule base. G9 is an easy lamp to buy in the UK in LED form, and the socket accepts warm or cool output at 3000K or 4000K depending on the lamp you choose. It is hardwired rather than plug-in, so it must be installed on a lighting circuit; no lamp is supplied.
