Cordless Waterproof Bar Lamp

This is the slim, upright lamp you see on restaurant tables, the kind that sits between the glasses and lights the food without dazzling anyone. The body is a narrow aluminium column with a polycarbonate diffuser running down one face, twenty-nine centimetres tall and only four deep, so it takes almost no room on a laid table and throws light downward and outward rather than into people's eyes.

Three brightness levels are selected by touch on the body. The lowest is barely more than a candle and right for a long dinner; the highest is bright enough to read a menu or a book by. The rechargeable battery runs up to twenty-eight hours on a charge at lower settings, which comfortably covers a weekend of evenings without going near a socket, and there is no bulb to replace.

Because the housing is sealed against water it can go outside on a patio table, sit on a bathroom shelf, or stand beside a kitchen sink without worry. Five finishes are offered so it can match brass, black or pale timber. Charge with a UK-approved USB adapter, not supplied. Wipe with a damp cloth. Bring it indoors in frost, and do not submerge it or leave it standing in water.
