Corduroy Floor Cushion 45 or 53cm

Cotton corduroy over a thick foam pad, square, deep and heavy enough to stay where it is put. The wale runs in one direction across the face, so the colour shifts slightly as you move around it, which is the quality that makes corduroy worth using on a large flat surface. Nine colours are offered, from green, teal and blue through brown and pink to a strong red and yellow.

Two sizes are available. The smaller is 45 centimetres square and 8 centimetres deep, which is the right size for a dining chair or a window seat; the larger is 53 centimetres square and 10 centimetres deep and is better as genuine floor seating, or as a low perch at a coffee table. Both are filled with foam rather than loose fibre, so they hold their shape.

Spot clean the corduroy with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent, working along the wale rather than across it, and let it dry fully before it goes back on the floor. The foam core should not be soaked. Keep it clear of open fires and heaters. It is firm and substantial rather than soft, so it is seating for older children and adults, not a crash pad for toddlers.
