Country Copper Basin Tap 21-31cm

A single-hole basin tap in copper, hand-aged so the surface carries the slight unevenness of a fitting that has been in place for years rather than the flat uniformity of a factory finish. It is designed for a country or cottage bathroom, and it sits particularly well on a stone or ceramic basin where a brighter chrome tap would look out of period. Three finishes are offered: brass tone, copper and bronze.

Two heights are available. The shorter, at 21cm overall with a 9cm spout reach, suits an inset or semi-recessed basin where the tap rises from the surrounding surface. The taller, at 31cm overall with a 12cm reach, is the one to choose for a countertop bowl, where the spout has to clear the rim and still deliver water near the centre of the basin. Measure your basin before choosing, because a tap that is too short is unusable.

A single lever handle controls both flow and temperature, and an aerator is fitted in the spout to soften the stream and reduce splashing in a shallow bowl. The copper body resists corrosion and tarnishing, and the finish is intended to deepen rather than flake. Supply hoses are offered as an option on some variants. This is plumbing work on a water main, so have it fitted by a qualified plumber.
