Four cushions shaped as things you would rather be eating: a fat soft pretzel, a baguette, a croissant and a single square of toast, each rendered in plush with the browning, the seeds and the scoring stitched or shaded in. They are funny without being childish, which is a narrow line for a novelty cushion to walk.

The outer is a short-pile plush with a smooth hand, chosen because it holds the moulded shape better than a woven fabric would, and the shading is printed onto the pile before making up rather than appliqued on top. The filling is hollow polyester fibre, springy enough to hold the form and soft enough to actually lean on. Seams are double-stitched and the filling is fully enclosed, with no removable cover.

They work on a sofa, a bed, a window seat or a reading chair, and they are a reliable gift for anyone who bakes. Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent; a full machine wash will distort the shape. Not a toy: keep out of cots and away from infants, and keep away from open flames and heaters.
