A glass orb cradled in a crescent, with the base wrapped in rustic twine, standing 27 centimetres tall and 17 centimetres across. Inside the glass, a string of LED fairy lights gathers into a loose drift rather than a single point, so the orb looks full of light instead of lit from one side. Two versions are offered: a warm sunset gold and a cooler galaxy blue.
This is an ornament that happens to light up, and it belongs where ornaments go: a mantelpiece, a bookshelf, a windowsill, a bedside table. Because it runs on batteries there is no cable to hide and no socket to be near, which is what makes it useful on a shelf in the middle of a wall. The light is low and decorative, not enough to read by.
Three AA batteries are needed and are not supplied. Take them out if the lamp is going to be stored or left unused for a long period, since leaking cells will ruin the base. The maker does not recommend outdoor use, so keep it inside and away from windowsills that get rain. The orb is glass, so stand it where it cannot be knocked and dust it with a dry cloth.
