Crown Facet Pendant Light

A pendant cut into the faceted planes of a gemstone, built from a metal frame with acrylic glass panels between the ribs. Lit, the facets break the output into a set of bright edges and soft faces; unlit, it still holds a clear geometric shape against a ceiling, which is what separates a piece like this from a plain shade that only works when switched on.

The cable adjusts up to 100cm, so it can be hung low over a dining table, dropped into a stairwell, or shortened to sit closer to a hallway ceiling. At around 5kg it has real presence and needs a proper fixing - this is not a lightweight shade that can be hung from a plasterboard rose without thought, and the ceiling fixing should be rated accordingly.

It works best as a single statement piece over a table or in a stairwell, rather than repeated along a run where the faceted shape would start to compete with itself. Acrylic glass rather than crystal keeps the weight and the risk down while holding the same faceted look. Dust with a dry cloth once cool. This is a hardwired fitting: installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician on an isolated circuit.
