A faceted crystal-effect body that does most of its work by refraction. Light from inside the base breaks across every cut face and throws small bright points onto the surrounding surface, so a plain console or bedside table gets pattern and sparkle rather than a flat pool of light. It is a decorative lamp first and a functional one second, and it is honest about that.

Colour changes the character completely. Transparent is the most classic and the most reflective, throwing clean white sparkle. Grey mutes the effect into something more restrained. Orange, blue and green tint the refracted light itself, casting coloured points across the wall behind — which is either exactly what you want or entirely the wrong choice, depending on the room.

Scale is deliberately modest, so it suits a bedside table, a hallway console, a dressing table or a shelf where a full-sized lamp would crowd the surface.
