Cylinder Drum Ceiling Light 30cm

Colour on a ceiling is unusual enough to be worth doing properly, and a plain cylinder is the right shape to carry it. Thirty centimetres across and fifteen deep, this fitting is a straightforward drum in metal and resin with a diffused base, finished in one of three solid colours rather than a pattern or a texture. The result is closer to a piece of joinery than a light fitting.

Green is the softest of the three and reads almost neutral against a pale ceiling until you look up. Red is emphatic and belongs in a room that already has some confidence about it, a hallway or a small dining room rather than a bedroom. Black is the safest choice and holds its own against dark paint or exposed beams without drawing attention in daylight.

It takes a single E27 bulb, which is not supplied, and unlike most integrated fittings it will dim if you fit a dimmable bulb and a compatible switch. That flexibility is worth having in a room used both for eating and sitting. It carries CE and UL certification and is rated for dry indoor locations only, so it must not go in a bathroom zone or outside.
