Dragon Form Table Lamp 16cm

A small cast dragon in black metal with gold picked out on the scales, curled around a glass orb that holds the lamp. It is a piece of sculpture that lights, rather than a lamp with a decorative base, and at 16 centimetres tall it sits on a shelf or a bookcase as an object that happens to glow rather than dominating a side table.

Two figures are offered. The Coiled Dragon is the more serpentine of the two, wrapped fully around the orb with its head turned back over the coil. The Dragon Cub is smaller in the body and more upright, sitting alongside the glass rather than around it, and reads as friendlier - it is the one for a child's shelf or a study rather than a formal room. Both are 12 by 15 centimetres in plan.

The orb takes a standard E27 bulb, which is not supplied. A warm filament-style LED is the right choice: the glass is clear enough that the lamp is visible, and a cool white one looks wrong against the gold. The lamp runs at 220 volts with an inline toggle switch on the cord, so there is nothing to reach behind. Keep the glass clear of curtains, let it cool before handling, and dust the casting with a dry brush.
