Dunara Anthracite Aluminium Pillar Light

The Dunara is a squared pillar light made to sit on top of a gate post, a wall pier or the end of a low garden wall. The lantern shape tapers gently and the edges are softened rather than sharp, so it reads as a considered piece of hardware instead of a box. The clear polycarbonate light area runs the whole way round the head, which spreads the glow evenly on all four sides.

The frame is die-cast aluminium in a dark anthracite grey, paired with a polycarbonate panel that stays clear outdoors rather than clouding. An IP54 rating seals it against dust and splashing water, covering rain, wind-blown grit and a passing garden hose. It takes one E27 (ES) bulb of up to 15 W LED, which is not included, and it dims when wired to an external dimmer. The head stands 26 cm high on a 24 cm square footprint.

That footprint is large enough to read as a deliberate feature on a pier without swamping it, and the 12.2 cm by 10 cm mounting base fits most standard post caps. A run of several along a driveway or a boundary wall gives a rhythm of light at low level rather than one bright source. Choose a warm LED to keep the output soft, and clear leaf litter from the head each autumn.
