Effie Fruit Motif Cotton Towel

Effie takes a plain terry towel and gives it one good idea: a fruit motif woven into the pile rather than printed on top. An avocado on red, a pineapple on green, cherries on white, a strawberry on mustard — small, graphic and repeated, so the towel reads as pattern from across the room and as a detail up close.

The cloth is combed cotton with a medium-weight loop, chosen as the point where a towel is genuinely absorbent but still dries overnight on a radiator or rail. Because the motif is woven, it will not crack, peel or wash out; the towel softens with use instead of stiffening. Edges are double-hemmed and there is a hanging loop on the short side.

Two sizes: a 35 x 75 cm hand towel for a basin or a guest cloakroom, and a 70 x 140 cm bath towel. Buy across colours for a mismatched set that still hangs together. Wash at 40°C without fabric softener, which coats the loops and reduces absorbency, and tumble dry on low to lift the pile. Because the motif is small and repeated, the towels also read as plain from a distance, so a set does not fight with patterned tiles or a papered cloakroom wall.
