Erdo Rust Iron Lantern Outdoor Wall Light

The Erdo is a fisherman style lantern: a curved iron arm, a wide flared shade and a clear glass globe hanging underneath. The rust brown finish is applied rather than earned, which means it arrives looking as though it has been on the wall for years instead of taking a decade to get there. It is a plain, working shape, and it suits an older brick or render wall better than a polished one.

The glass is clear, so the bulb is visible and part of the look; a vintage filament lamp suits it better than a plain frosted one. The flared shade pushes light down onto a doorstep or a path rather than out into a neighbour's window. It stands 26.8 cm high and projects 25 cm from the wall, and takes one E27 screw bulb of up to 60 W, which is not included.

It suits a porch, front door, garden wall, stable, shed or courtyard, and sits best at head height or a little above so the globe is not in the eye line. The IP44 rating covers rain on a wall that sees weather. It runs on a 230 V supply and installation is best carried out by a qualified electrician. Wipe the glass when it is cool and leave the rust finish alone.
